Mutual Positioning, 2021
Sound and video installation, performance, paper screens.

Mutual positioning, meaning between position or belief. What positions do we share? mutually positioning ourselves?

This work aims to highlight the relationship between two bodies movements through subtle gesture and small movement. Looking at the langue of the body and how we communicate and interact with bodies non- verbally. In this playful performance the artist uses costume and site specific locations around a Liverpool city to influence the movement of others, managing to change the entire flow of groups of people leaving the train station it becomes clear that the importance of 'costume' being a high vis plays a role of controlling the movement of others. She looks at how a space and objects in this case, esculaters, a high vis and a train station all work together to create a narrative that the small meaningless diversion of movement should be followed. The artist purposefully uses pointless instructions to look at the way we move and why?
